Meet Dr. Bustillo

A calling to bring healing

Eduardo Jesús Bustillo was born in Chicago and raised in Cartagena, Colombia, where he spent his childhood and finished school. In 1984 he came to the United States, arriving in Pittsburgh and working at Pizza Hut — washing dishes, cooking, and waiting tables — while he taught himself English.

Growing up the youngest of six, Eduardo was always the one lending a hand, and he learned early how much it matters to receive help when you need it. That instinct to care for others became his life’s work.

Eduardo is, in his own words, “married to the most loving, caring, and beautiful woman in the world,” and together they share their walk with Jesus Christ. They have three daughters, a son, and a young granddaughter. When he isn’t with clients, you’ll find him at the beach, reading, or watching a movie with his family.

He believes every person — regardless of age, background, or belief — deserves accessible, high-quality, compassionate care. To Eduardo, this work is both art and science: a vocation that calls for skill, creativity, and genuine understanding.

As a psychiatric nurse practitioner and marriage and family therapist, Eduardo provides comprehensive mental health care — assessment, diagnosis, and treatment — pairing evidence-based practice with faith, always at the client’s invitation. He specializes in repairing broken marriages and restoring families, and works with individuals facing trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and addiction, including specialized care for survivors of sexual abuse. His approach draws on CBT, psychodynamic, and integrative methods, in both individual and group settings, in English and Spanish.

“Success as a therapist is not found in doing something for the client, but in being someone for the client.”

In his words

Why I do this

I love being a therapist. I’m dedicated to helping people heal, restore their mental and emotional health, and enrich their lives and the lives of their children. If a crisis comes up, I’ll be there — giving the time and attention to explore the parts of life that have gone unattended, and helping people grow. I’m patient, understanding, and nonjudgmental. Everyone has a unique story that brought them to this moment, and my job is to help them understand it and work through it.
